Adieu and Bienvenue

This week in the sweet little literary haven of Port Townsend, we bid adieu to one of our favorite indie booksellers, Kristy Webster, of Imprint Books. She heads out of PT to start a new life chapter, and based on how much I know I will miss her sparkly presence every time I go in to drool on to buy books, I can only imagine how much Anna and Peter, Imprint’s gracious owners, will miss her. The town will miss her–truly.

Rumor has it we’ll be gathering Friday for goodbye snacks in the bookstore. I only hope Kristy, in her final duty to the bookstore books, manages to keep our sad, but “Heyyyyy! Go get it, grrrrl,” tears away from all the pretty masterpieces.

Of course, we know we have her until at least Saturday, because she delayed her move by one day in order not to miss another local wonder woman, Julie Christine Johnson, read from her debut novel, In Another Life. I mean, indie bookstore people have a reputation for building community around books and spreading the love–and nobody wants to miss a local who is experiencing such mad success shine–but to delay your move?! People, you know it’s good here.

So, if you live near Port Townsend, get inside Imprint Books this weekend. Bid adieu to Kristy and give a warm bienvenue to Julie’s debut.

If you live nowhere near Port Townsend, get inside your local indie bookstore and squeeze some more love into February.
